Following recent directions from Chief of Air Staff Hasan Abubakar, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has increased its efforts against terrorist groups in the Lake Chad region. Only three days after being told to increase operations, Air Component Commanders of Operation Hadin Kai executed a successful air interdiction raid at Jubillaram in southern Tumbuns. According to Edward Gabkwet, Director of Public Relations and Information, the operation dealt a serious blow to the remaining terrorists sheltering in the Tumbuns near Lake Chad.

Gabkwet claimed that the bombing was intentionally launched after intelligence showed that recent heavy rainfall pushed bandits to migrate to higher ground, exposing them to NAF observation.

According to him, a huge black plume of smoke seen from one of the demolished facilities suggested it was an armory or a logistical storage facility. Several terrorists were also eliminated during the operation.

To confirm the presence of these terrorists, the NAF carried out a series of Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions over the course of one week. “The ISR operations discovered several terrorists and their possessions hidden inside four homemade shelters, some of which were camouflaged beneath trees and heavy vegetation.
