FG and Chinese businesses sign electricity, water supply MoU.

Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory Minister, has signed two Memoranda of Understanding with the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation and the China Geo-Engineering Corporation Overseas Construction Group to improve the Federal Capital Territory’s lighting and rural water supply. Anthony Ogunleye, Director of Press in the FCT Minister’s Office, made the revelation in a statement to journalists in Abuja on Sunday. The Memorandums of Understanding were signed in Beijing, China, during Wike’s meeting with President Bola Tinubu for the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Summit. According to the announcement, the projects mentioned in the MoUs would be finished in time for the FCT’s 50th anniversary.

Wike remarked, “One crucial initiative that is very important to us is the lighting up of Abuja. Abuja will commemorate its 50th anniversary next year, which we expect to be a jubilee year. We want Abuja to sparkle like other global cities, with illumination comparable to that seen in Beijing.
