On Friday, it was reported that Ruben Amorim would officially start working at Manchester United on Monday, November 11. The Portuguese will play their final three games at Sporting CP (two in Liga Portugal and one in the Champions League) before departing for England. He will make his debut against Ipswich Town on Sunday, November 24, after this month’s international break.
After leading Sporting CP to their first league title in 19 years, Amorim’s reputation has been high for the past two years. He was linked to the positions at West Ham and Liverpool after leading the Portuguese powerhouses to another league championship the previous season.
When he finally starts working at Carrington, Amorim will have a number of significant record
They are currently seven points behind the top four and could slip even farther behind if they lose at Chelsea on Sunday. The January transfer window and the following summer will provide opportunity for the new United manager to develop his own group. Under Ten Hag, United let the Dutchman to bring in his own players, with Antony, Lisandro Martinez, Andre Onana, Matthijs de Ligt, and Noussair Mazraoui, all of whom cost more than £240 million, serving as prime examples. The concept of giving the head coach a big role in transfer decisions has somewhat backfired, and Amorim is not anticipated to be as involved.
However, according to The Manchester Evening News’ latest survey on Amorim, which asked fans questions about the incoming head coach, fans are more than willing to put their trust in the Portuguese in the market. In all, 61% of supporters agreed that United should trust Amorim’s judgement during the transfer window. That figure comes as Viktor Gyokeres, who has 59 goals in 65 outings for Sporting, has been linked with a move to Old Trafford.
Unlike before Ten Hag arrived, United now has a well-constructed off-field squad, thanks to the additions of Jason Wilcox, Omar Berrada, and Dan Ashworth in the last ten months. Want to have your say? Please participate in our Amorim poll below.
