Four soldiers of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were killed during prolonged fighting with the Jaish ul-Adl group in Iran’s southeastern Sistan and Baluchistan region. Local media said that the conflict lasted around ten hours and took place in Jalalabad hamlet in Sarbaz district. According to the IRGC, four Jaish ul-Adl fighters were killed and six were apprehended during the clash. Jaish ul-Adl announced three casualties among its members and claimed to have caused military casualties against the IRGC. According to Baluch media sites, the confrontations erupted after IRGC soldiers struck a residence allegedly occupied by armed men. They also alleged that local bystanders were shot at, and some individuals were arrested during the operation. The incident comes after recent IRGC operations in the region. On November 8th,
Sistan and Baluchistan have seen heightened violence in recent weeks, with various battles reported between Iranian security forces and opposition organizations, mainly Jaish ul-Adl, resulting in losses on both sides. The southeastern province, which borders Pakistan and Afghanistan, has long been a flashpoint for clashes between Iranian security forces and militants. Iranian authorities and several Western governments, including the US, identify Jaish ul-Adl as a terrorist organization.
