Manchester United’s January transfer window has been exceedingly underwhelming thus far, especially given their current condition on the pitch. Ruben Amorim plainly needs reinforcements, but Manchester United’s financial condition has compelled them to wait for sales before entering the market for incomings.
United recently initiated talks with Patrick Dorgu, indicating that something is happening in the background regarding a sale that might move the team forward. Now, it has been revealed that they are’very near’ to finalizing the deal, which launches their window into overdrive and sets them up for a frenetic conclusion to it.
It wasn’t a transfer many expected, especially in January, but it’s exactly what Amorim needs to launch his rebuilding efforts at Old Trafford.
Alejandro Garnacho has piqued Napoli’s interest from the beginning of the transfer season, and his wages, along with his status as an academy product, make him an excellent asset to cash in. Manchester United’s motives for selling Garnacho go beyond those two, and as things stand, he’s more valuable as an asset than a player. Realising this, Napoli entered the auction for Garnacho, but their £40 million proposal was rejected. However, it initiated the conversation, which now appears to be nearing completion.
