The European Union, along with Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the UK, condemned the sham presidential elections in Belarus on January 26 and the ongoing human rights violations by the Belarusian regime.
The EU and its partners condemned the Lukashenko regime’s human rights violations and urged Belarus to release over 1,250 political prisoners. The statement emphasized the importance of Belarus adhering to international human rights obligations and OSCE commitments, including restoring an open civil society and holding international-standard elections.
