When Jameis Winston, who was asking questions for FOX during Super Bowl media day on Monday, asked Barkley which team would sign him in free agency, Barkley took a shot at the Giants, whose failure to re-sign him drove him to the rival Eagles.
Keep an eye on #2. “I’m a free agent; I don’t really have a job,” Winston inquired. “Who’s gonna sign me in free agency?” Barkley responded, “I think New York needs a quarterback right now.”

So, would Winston seriously consider signing with the Giants? NJ Advance Media posed the question shortly after his viral exchange with Barkley. “Would I actually sign with the Giants?” Absolutely!” Winston informed NJ Advance Media. “I want to keep playing and do what I do best.” When asked about the Giants’ dismal roster and coach Brian Daboll, who is under fire following a 3-14 season, Winston focused on the positives — and may have made a Freudian slip.
“I have a lot of respect for coach Brian Daboll and what he does offensively,” Winston said. “I believe we have a young—woah! They have a young roster. However, they have a young group that is prepared to win. They’re prepared to recover. “I know they are hungry over there.” The Giants, who do not have a quarterback on their roster, clearly need a new signal caller. While they’ll most likely want to take a player with the third overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Winston might serve as a good bridge. Winston, 31, concluded the season with 2,121 yards passing, 13 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.
