The 2025 NFL draft is just around the corner, with the first round starting on April 24. Shedeur Sanders’ name has been associated with a variety of teams, ranging from No. 2 overall to No. 21. Sanders, more than anyone else, is eager to begin the draft process. After a statistically impressive college football career, the media is split on what type of NFL quarterback Sanders can be. Some envision him as a star, while others predict him to be a flop. One veteran NFL quarterback made a rather unfavorable comparison
Tim Hasselbeck, who played in 10 NFL games, says Sanders is similar to Andy Dalton. “My comparison to Shedeur Sanders has kind of been in that Andy Dalton category to Sanders prior of the draft.
Being compared to Dalton is not the worst thing in the world, but it does not scream “superstar” either. Dalton has had a successful overall career in the NFL.
Dalton has completed 62.6% of his pass attempts across his 175 career games, totaling 39,499 yards, 253 touchdowns, and 150 interceptions. Those numbers aren’t bad, and he’s been around for quite some time. Sanders spent two years at Jackson State and two years at Colorado. He threw for 14,347 yards, 134 touchdowns, and only 27 interceptions while completing 70.1% of his attempts.
