This offseason, the New York Jets brought in a new head coach, general manager, and quarterback. While usually moves like this could inspire confidence in a team’s young breakout star, for Breece Hall, it could lead to him being shipped out of town. While Jets coach Aaron Glenn may prefer a backfield by committee… the Cleveland Browns could use a No. 1 runner. As a result of these issues, trade rumors have been circulating far and wide. On Tuesday, Bleacher Report

The Cleveland Browns would trade a third-round pick (No. 67 overall) and a sixth-round pick (No. 216 overall) for the fourth-year back. “Trading for Hall would immediately improve Cleveland’s backfield. His presence would not only provide the team with a dynamic alternative capable of shouldering a significant percentage of the rushing load, but he would also assist alleviate the heat off whoever lines up behind center for the Browns in 2025.” Kay wrote. Nick Chubb, Cleveland’s main back for the past seven seasons, has struggled to stay healthy and effective in the last two seasons. Chubb has only played 10 NFL games in the last two seasons .

Chubb has logged just 10 NFL games over the past two seasons, and in that span has averaged 3.9 yards per carry (a mark that was at 3.3 in his eight 2024 games)

Chubb has only scored three touchdowns in two seasons, and while he may return to the Browns this season, he is undoubtedly in limbo. Meanwhile … “During his NFL career, Hall has caught 152 passes for 1,292 yards and eight touchdowns. He may be an excellent safety valve and checkdown option for Kenny Pickett or whichever prospect the Browns draft at No. 2 overall.” Said Kay. “While trading an early third-round pick for a one-year Hall rental isn’t ideal, Cleveland still has over $17 million in cap space.” It may attempt to arrange a long-term extension to coincide with the transaction.
