Even before the Green Bay Packers moved Aaron Rodgers in the spring of 2023, the New York Jets started accumulating some of his favorite teammates and coaches in an attempt to get the four-time NFL MVP to join their team. They began by recruiting Nathaniel Hackett, the Packers’ offensive coordinator during Rodgers’ previous two MVP awards, to the same job in their organization.
Then they signed Allen Lazard, one of his favorite wide receivers in Green Bay, to a four-year contract worth $44 million. After obtaining Rodgers, they signed Randall Cobb, Billy Turner, and Adrian Amos.
In 2024, New York acquired Davante Adams in a midseason trade from the Las Vegas Raiders. Adams, of course, had established a name for himself by setting Packers franchise receiving records. Unfortunately for the Jets, becoming Green Bay East did not work out for them, and only one of the aforementioned guys is still on the roster.
