Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka has been ruled out of England’s Nations League match against Finland on Sunday due to an injury suffered against Greece. The winger went out in the second half of Thursday’s dismal defeat to Greece at Wembley Stadium and will be unable to play in Helsinki.

He will now return to Arsenal for further evaluation ahead of the Premier League match against Bournemouth next weekend. Curtis Jones, a Liverpool midfielder, will also miss the trip due to personal reasons. Jones was added to England’s team shortly before the game against Greece, however he did not play.

Harry Kane was one of 22 players to exercise on Saturday, raising optimism that the captain will be fit after missing Thursday’s game. Kane was unable to recover from a knock sustained while playing for Bayern Munich in time to play, prompting interim manager Lee Carsley to adopt an unusual formation with Jude Bellingham as a ‘false 9’ in front of Phil Foden, Saka, Cole Palmer, and Anthony Gordon.

When asked how the defeat would effect Carsley’s career, England keeper Jordan Pickford responded: “I’m not in the hierarchy. “It’s never nice for a player or staff to lose at Wembley.

We wanted to win every game we played while wearing this jersey, but we didn’t. “So we’ve got to keep going and dust ourselves off. What can we do better, what can we learn, and how can we move forward to obtain the results on Sunday? “You constantly have to learn. You will never be perfect, even if you win games. You can learn a lot from this. “It’s about recovering well and getting ready for Sunday.” England is under pressure in Group B2 after losing to Greece, who now leads by three points. They must now win their next three games, beginning with Finland on Sunday, followed by a return trip to Athens and a Wembley showdown against the Republic in November.
