Ex-APC NWC member urges Obi, Atiku, Osinbajo, and Amaechi to unify against Tinubu.

Salihu Moh Lukman, a former member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Working Committee (NWC), believes that the best way to end President Bola Tinubu’s bad administration is for aggrieved political leaders to form a strong political alliance ahead of the 2027 presidential election. Lukman specifically demanded the formation of a political party capable of rescuing the country, which will have the likes of 2023 presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso respectively, and aggrieved members of the ruling party, comprising former vice president Yemi Osinbajo, Rotimi Amaechi, Kayode Fayemi, Ibukunle Amosun, Mal. Nasir El-Rufai, among others.

In a statement issued in Abuja, the former APC national vice chairman North-West expressed his displeasure that the Tinubu-led administration has been on a roller coaster of increased spending amidst mass hunger and poverty in the country, claiming that it is partially responsible for the highly volatile situation. The former director general of the APC Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) revealed that, while initiatives are already underway, rising anger in the country must be harnessed and directed to strengthen the emergence of a truly functional political party distinct from the APC, PDP, LP, and NNPP. In response, Lukman stated that “the restlessness of Nigerian youths must be mobilized and directed appropriately to push the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register all new parties that meet every statutory requirement for registration.” INEC appears to have an undeclared embargo on registering new parties, either intentionally or by default.If this trend continues, it will encourage governments at all levels to act as if they are conquering Nigerians, with no obligation to address citizens’ concerns or be accountable to them.The ability to create a functioning political party capable of mobilizing Nigerians to defeat present leaders is a vital prerequisite.
