At a meeting with Nigerian expatriates on Friday in Beijing, President Bola Tinubu concluded his formal visit to the People’s Republic of China by promising to build high-quality infrastructure in Nigeria, a promise he made during his visit. To the cheers of the crowd, the President emphasised that one important lesson from his tour to China is the resolve to duplicate China’s infrastructure domestically. He was speaking to members of the Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation in China (NIDO China) and the Nigerian community at the China World Hotel.”We want our children to attend good schools, not run-down huts and buildings,” he declared. We have to be creative in our instruction and let companies
We must infuse creativity into our instruction and promote the growth of companies of all sizes.Regarding the recent increase in petrol prices in Nigeria, President Tinubu characterised the difficult choice made as one of the first-ever actions meant to transform the nation. He declared: “We are making very daring and unusual moves as we reform Nigeria. For instance, you may have been hearing about fuel prices lately from your home. Can we, however, avoid it? Can we build nice roads like the ones you have here? You observe that the quantity and quality of electricity are constant. You may observe their excellent schools and their steady and uninterrupted water supply. And we claim we want to give our kids a banner that is stain-free?
According to Tinubu, the difficult choice made is one of the ground-breaking actions intended to transform the nation. And we declare that we would want to give our kids a banner that is stain-free?If we can’t make the difficult choices necessary to create a nation that is blessed and prosperous, then what is the crucial component to get us there?
I have an excellent team, and we are focused,” President Tinubu continued. The President stressed his efforts to strengthen cooperation in infrastructure, trade, finance, energy, green economy, and mining during his discussions with Premier Li Qiang and President Xi Jinping. He also described his working visit to China as “very good and successful.” The President will be attending the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit in 2024.The most important thing on my mind is that you all continue to represent Nigeria as decent citizens, and I implore you to do so when you are in China.”We shall never stop appreciating our diversity. Although we value diversity, it is our commitment to serve. If service is the goal, then we should act as decent citizens.
Dr. Oche Barnabas, the president of NIDO China, praised President Tinubu for his dedication to enhancing ties between China and Nigeria, especially in the areas of commerce, investment, and people-to-people cooperation. He conveyed NIDO China’s backing for Nigeria’s 4Ds programme, which was introduced earlier in the year by Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, the Minister of Foreign Affairs. The head of NIDO emphasised that the organisation is keen to advance the initiative among the diaspora population. In order to support Nigeria’s formal recognition as a native English-speaking nation and provide Nigerians living in China with greater access to employment and educational opportunities, Barnabas asked President Tinubu for aid.He said: “Your Excellency, I would like to take advantage of this unique opportunity to share a critical challenge on behalf of the Nigerian people and to indulge your kind attention.”
Our desire is that Nigeria is officially recognized as a native English-speaking nation in China. We believe your esteemed engagements with the high-level authorities can assist us in establishing this status.”Presently, over 70% of available international jobs in China are reserved for native English speakers. In 2016, the local authorities listed South Africa as a native English-speaking nation.”We believe Nigeria has a chance to receive similar recognition due to the fact that English language is our official language and we are also blessed with Professor Wole Soyinka who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1986.”We believe the enhancement of our status will open more opportunities to allow more Nigerians to study and work in China, thereby increasing diaspora remittance to Nigeria,” he said.Barnabas assured that the organization would continue to contribute their expertise and resources to support President Tinubu’s administration and efforts to elevate Nigeria’s global standing.
