The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has detained Adam Imam Yusuf, a Deputy Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kogi State, for the alleged diversion of more than N3 billion.

This is contained in a statement signed by Demola Bakare, Director of Public Enlightenment and Education/Spokesperson, and made available to journalists. Bakare claimed, “Yusuf, who was at large till now, was apprehended at his apartment in Gwagwalada, Abuja, and is expected to face prosecution.

According to CPC investigations, former Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Usman Jibrin (rtd.) allegedly planned the scam with Yusuf and retired Brigadier General Ishaya Bauka Gangum (rtd).

“The accused scam purportedly entailed the transfer of public monies through 92 bogus firms that were not registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC). “The ICPC investigated and linked these monies to Lahab Integrated, Gate Coast Properties, and other connected firms, resulting in the acquisition of over 18 properties, including filling stations. “Four of these properties have been forfeited to the government so far, while legal proceedings continue over the remaining assets.” He further stated that the ICPC is stepping up its attempts to catch other individuals who remain at large.
