Nathan MacKinnon, the Colorado Avalanche’s standout forward, continued to make history on Saturday by breaching a particular triple-digit barrier. MacKinnon recently became the first NHL player to reach 100 points this season, scoring twice in the Colorado Avalanche’s 7-4 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night. MacKinnon gave the Avalanche a 5-4 lead with a wrist shot on the power play, and he sealed the victory with an empty-net goal. He currently has 27 goals and 73 assists in 64 games this season. The 29-year-old has also increased his home point streak to 19 games.

Nathan MacKinnon is the first player to reach 100 points this season! 💯 How many points will he accumulate at the end of the 2024-25 season?

This is MacKinnon’s third consecutive 100-point season, joining franchise great Peter Stastny as the only Avalanche/Nordiques players to accomplish the accomplishment.

“Yeah, I just think it’s a lifestyle to be elite,” MacKinnon said. “To stay at the top of your game is very difficult. It’s all the time when off the rink, (work) no one sees, but also, look at the players we have-it’s not hard to get points with these guys.” MacKinnon, who won the Hart Trophy and Ted Lindsay Award last season, continues to lead the NHL in scoring. His career-high 140 points last year remains a career-high mark, but he is currently on pace for 128 points.

With Saturday’s win, the Avalanche now have a 38-24-2 record and a two-point lead over Minnesota in the Central Division.
