One of Manchester United’s best players this season has barely played in his best position. For most of the 2024/25 season, Noussair Mazraoui has spent a lot of time in the left-back role, rather than his preferred right-back spot. Mazraoui and Diogo Dalot have switched flanks frequently, but of late, the Moroccan has been assigned to the left. In the win over PAOK in the Europa League, Mazraoui was back at his preferred right-back spot, where he was able to link up with Amad.
Mazraoui and Amad duo rekindled Early in the season, there were positive signs when Noussair Mazraoui and Amad were selected as starters on the right.
Amad’s only previous goal for United this season came in the away match at Brighton, from a Noussair Mazraoui assist. Since then, the partnership has had little time to breathe, with Amad playing infrequently, and Mazraoui often on the opposite flank. Against PAOK, Amad scored twice, looking comfortable on Manchester United’s right, with the super-reliable Mazraoui behind him.
The Moroccan has been United’s most consistent player this season and the best of the summer buys. He is excellent from week to week and shows he can be relied on.
Mazraoui follows up man of the match performance Noussair Mazraoui was voted as Manchester United’s man of the match against Chelsea, after a superb performance at left-back. This time around he was playing at right-back, and was every bit as effective, while asked to do a little less defensively. Mazraoui completed 93 per cent of his passes, winning two tackles, and making one block. He won six duels in total.
United face Leicester City at the weekend, and with Amad stating his case to start, Mazraoui has also made his case to sit behind him.
