Guaranteed bands for train passengers need to be implemented also during strikes organized on public holidays, Italy’s strike authority said Tuesday. The Guarantee Authority on strikes said that, after consulting with unions, it intervened in an agreement outlining essential services to be guaranteed in the rail sector operated by the Ferrovie dello Stato (FS) rail group to introduce guaranteed bands during festivities (70-10 am and 6-9 pm) and to boost the minimum level of services provided. The changes were considered necessary, 25 years after current rules were implemented, with the objective of guaranteeing workers the right to strike while ensuring the right to travel of passengers, the authority said.
