MATCH RECAP: Sounders FC earns pivotal 3-0 Western Conference victory on the road at Vancouver

FC (15-9-8, 53 points) moved into third place in the Western Conference after defeating Vancouver Whitecaps FC 3-0 on the road Wednesday evening. Seattle’s midweek game was the second of three in eight days, with Georgi Minoungou making his second career start for the First Team. Minoungou took advantage of his opportunity, scoring what would ultimately be the game-winner in the fourteenth minute. The Rave Green sealed the game in the second half, with Albert Rusnák converting a penalty in the 65th minute and Paul Rothrock scoring two minutes later. Stefan Frei had his tenth shutout of the season, marking the sixth time in his career (all with Sounders FC).

With the win, Seattle is now third in the Western Conference at the time of writing, with two matches remaining in the 2024 regular season. The club will next play the Rapids in Colorado on Saturday, October 5 (6:30 p.m. PT / Apple TV, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).
