MIAMI (AP)— Tropical Storm Sara emerged in the Caribbean Sea on Thursday and was anticipated to unleash life-Forecasters predicted life-threatening flash flooding and mudslides over Central America, including Honduras. According to the US National Hurricane Centre, the storm is roughly 50 miles (85 km) northeast of Honduras’ and Nicaragua’s east coast border. Sustained winds reached over 40 mph (65 kph), with greater gusts, as the storm travelled west at 12 mph (19 kph), according to the agency. The storm was anticipated to stall and meander near Honduras’ coast during the weekend, according to the agency. Heavy rain is also expected in Belize, El Salvador, eastern Guatemala, and western Nicaragua.

The storm is forecast to grow before impacting Belize and Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula early next week. The hurricane centre warned it was too early Friday morning to predict what conditions the system would bring to parts of the eastern Gulf of Mexico next week, including Florida, the Florida Keys, and Cuba.
