Trump shakes hands with Harris and flashes fake smile while reaching over Biden

Following their heated discussion, former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris clasped hands for the second time in as many hours at a 9/11 memorial service. Trump stood steps away from Harris at Ground Zero in New York City on Wednesday morning, extending his right hand to his opponent, who reciprocated. The former president extended his left hand to the shake and gave Harris a broad, phoney smile as the two 2024 hopefuls finished the move in front of President Joe Biden. Harris and Trump exchanged words that were not heard.

Trump did not acknowledge Biden in the tape, and it was unclear whether he did so during the event. As someone in the audience chanted his name, the Republican nominee mouthed, ‘Thank you,’ and smiled along with Harris.

They stood in the front row of the World Trade Centre memorial service, from left to right: Harris, Biden, former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg, Trump, and his vice presidential running mate JD Vance. On Tuesday night, the first face-to-face debate between the candidates began on a serious and uncomfortable tone when Harris crossed over the middle of the stage and shook hands with Trump.

Many believe Harris won the debate because she baited Trump and put him on the defensive for the majority of the hour and 45-minute discussion in Philadelphia. Meanwhile, Trump accused ABC News moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis of pulling a ‘three to one’ on him by fact-checking him repeatedly. Trump continued, “We won the debate, and we had a terrible network.”

The former president told Fox News that it was ‘simply a horrible day’ in American history. Before the service, Harris declared, “Today is a day of solemn remembrance as we mourn the souls we lost in a heinous terrorist attack on September 11, 2001.” ‘We are in solidarity with their families and loved ones.
