Doug Emhoff addressed the Democratic National Convention in Chicago on Tuesday, a night dedicated to presenting a “bold vision” to America’s future and a new generation of Democratic leadership. Watch Emhoff’s comments in the player above. Emhoff spent much of his address on their blended family, which includes two adult children from a previous marriage, Vice President Kamala Harris, and their mother.
He described how he and Harris met on a blind date and how their traditions, religions, and cultures are similar. And he described Harris as a cherished stepmother to his son and daughter. “She has always been there for our children, and I am confident she will be there for yours as well. “Kamala is a joyful warrior,” he explained. “Here’s the thing with joyous soldiers: they are still warriors. “And Kamala is as tough as they come.” Later this week, Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz will officially receive their nominations as the party’s nominees.
