A yellow weather warning is in effect for the majority of England, Wales, and Scotland and is valid until midnight. The Met Office predicted that an hour’s worth of rain might produce between 30 and 40 mm of rain globally, and between 60 and 80 mm in certain places, perhaps causing flash floods. In addition to electricity outages, lightning strikes may also result in structural damage to buildings. The worst of the storm is expected to hit Eastern Scotland on Monday afternoon, with portions of Wales and the West Midlands following suit.

According to senior operational meteorologist Petagna, “low pressure sitting over the UK” is the cause of the thunderstorms. He stated: “There’s a risk of heavy showers which could be thundery in places, especially central and eastern parts of the UK.” On Sunday, temperatures in the southeast reached 30C, yet in some areas of Dorset, up to 25mm of rain fell in an hour. According to Mr. Petagna, Monday’s high is still expected to be 25 degrees Celsius in the southeast, but it will feel cooler in the north and west. There will likely be lighter, more sporadic showers and sunlight on Tuesday and Wednesday. But starting on Thursday, thunderstorms are predicted to return to the southern states
