The Philippines is not now seeking to extradite a Filipino pastor wanted in the United States for child sex trafficking, President Ferdinand Marcos said Monday, following the suspect’s detention. Apollo Quiboloy, a self-proclaimed “Appointed Son of God” and former President Rodrigo Duterte friend, surrendered on Sunday in Davao, southern Philippines, amid a huge two-week police raid of his sect’s sprawling property. In 2021, the United States charged the Kingdom of Jesus Christ preacher with sex trafficking of children and women aged 12 to 25 to work as personal assistants for him, with the stated requirement that they have sex.

“For the moment, we are not looking at extradition. We are focusing on the cases filed in the Philippines,” Mar”We will demonstrate to the world that our judicial system in the Philippines is active, vibrant, and effective,” the president stated. Quiboloy is also being pursued by US officials for large-scale cash smuggling and a scam that sent church members to the United States on false visas. According to the US Federal Bureau of Investigation, they were then forced to seek donations for a phoney charity, raising cash that were instead used to sustain church operations and its officials’ luxurious lifestyles.
